The Intention Experiment

The Intention Experiment
By:"Lynne McTaggart"
Published on 2007-01-09 by Simon and Schuster

E-book Library:"Body, Mind & Spirit"

The book you hold in your hands is revolutionary, a groundbreaking exploration of the science of intention. It is also the first book to invite you, the reader, to take an active part in its original research. Drawing on the findings of leading scientists on human consciousness from around the world, The Intention Experiment demonstrates that thought is a thing that affects other things. Thought generates its own palpable energy that you can use to improve your life, to help others around you, and to change the world. In The Intention Experiment, internationally bestselling author Lynne McTaggart, an award-winning science journalist and leading figure in the human consciousness studies community, presents a gripping scientific detective story and takes you on a mind-blowing journey to the farthest reaches of consciousness. She profiles the colorful pioneers in intention science and works with a team of renowned scientists from around the world, including physicist Fritz-Albert Popp of the International Institute of Biophysics and Dr. Gary Schwartz, professor of psychology, medicine, and neurology at the University of Arizona, to determine the effects of focused group intention on scientifically quantifiable targets -- animal, plant, and human. The Intention Experiment builds on the discoveries of McTaggart's first book, international bestseller The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe, which documented discoveries that point to the existence of a quantum energy field. The Field created a picture of an interconnected universe and a scientific explanation for many of the most profound human mysteries, from alternative medicine and spiritual healing to extrasensory perception and the collective unconscious. The Intention Experiment shows you myriad ways that all this information can be incorporated into your life. After narrating the exciting developments in the science of intention, McTaggart offers a practical program to get in touch with your own thoughts, to increase the activity and strength of your intentions, and to begin achieving real change in your life. After you've begun to realize the amazing potential of focused intention, and the times when it is most powerful, McTaggart invites you to participate in an unprecedented experiment: Using The Intention Experiment website to coordinate your involvement and track results, you and other participants around the world will focus your power of intention on specific targets, giving you the opportunity to become a part of scientific history. The Intention Experiment redefines what a book does. It is the first \

Biochar for Environmental Management

Biochar for Environmental Management
By:"Dr. Johannes Lehmann","Stephen Joseph"
Published on 2009 by Earthscan

E-book Library:"Business & Economics"

Biochar is the carbon-rich product when biomass (such as wood, manure or crop residues) is heated in a closed container with little or no available air. It can be used to improve agriculture and the environment in several ways, and its stability in soil and superior nutrient-retention properties make it an ideal soil amendment to increase crop yields. In addition to this, biochar sequestration, in combination with sustainable biomass production, can be carbon-negative and therefore used to actively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, with major implications for mitigation of climate change. Biochar production can also be combined with bioenergy production through the use of the gases that are given off in the pyrolysis process. This book is the first to synthesize the expanding research literature on this topic. The book's interdisciplinary approach, which covers engineering, environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, economics and policy, is a vital tool at this stage of biochar technology development. This comprehensive overview of current knowledge will be of interest to advanced students, researchers and professionals in a wide range of disciplines.

Becoming an Elementary Science Teacher: Identity Development in a Science Methods Course

Becoming an Elementary Science Teacher: Identity Development in a Science Methods Course
By:
Published on 2007 by ProQuest

Many elementary teachers express a lack of positive connection and personal involvement with science subject matter, which, in turn, negatively influences how they think about teaching science. This dissertation study considers the potentially powerful role teacher educators can play in improving future science teachers' ideas and attitudes toward teaching science. Combining insights from ethnography and discourse analysis, this study addresses how participating in a university science methods course shapes prospective elementary teachers views of themselves as science teachers.

The Science Review Article

The Science Review Article
By:"Judy Noguchi"
Published on 2006 by Peter Lang

E-book Library:"Language Arts & Disciplines"

This volume presents the science review article as an opportune genre for introducing rhetorical diversity into scientific communities. First, it discusses the theoretical issues involved in applying the notion of a discourse community to that of an international science discourse community and examines the practical issues faced by writers who must use a language system that is not their mother tongue in order to become active participants. The review article is argued to be important in shaping the views of scientific discourse communities. Next, based on specialist informant and linguistic findings, review articles are classified into four different types according to their focus: history, status quo, theory/model or issue. Finally, practical suggestions for teaching how to write a review article are offered based on a framework of Moves and Steps, which can be expanded to the teaching of other genres.
